I grew up in a small town in Indiana where entire families, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents, lived within blocks of one another or sometimes, as was the case in my family, within houses. It was a close knit community where the neighbors enjoyed telling stories of your parents and grandparents exploits as young people and every house, no matter who lived there, was a safe place.
My grandmother, a teacher, lived just two houses away so I spent almost as much time with her as I did my parents. Together when it rained, we sat on the front porch listening to the pitter patter of raindrops just as my grandmother had done with her grandfather on that very same porch. And when it was too cold to sit outside, we wiled away the hours playing cards and doing crafts. It was at my grandmother's side that I learned the joy of macramé.
I didn't know at the time where macramé originated nor that it had been around since the 13th century. It didn't matter whether it was born at the hands of bored sailors occupying their time on long journeys or, as might be the case, Arabian weavers creating ornamental veils. To me, it was yet one more example of my grandmother's many and surprising talents.
As I sat working with the twine, I didn't know what I was creating. I listened. I followed. I learned. It was such an enjoyable past time that each moment I was free, I could be found at my grandmother's making tiny little twists and even small knots. Little by little those knots grew. From what started as a ball of nothing, a piece of art was being born. And when my grandmother and I finished, what we had was not just a beautifully decorative plant holder, but a magical memory only we two shared.

The Act of Crocheting Is So Soothing!

I find it so comforting to sit and crochet. All I need is my crocheting needle, the yarn, and Hispanic music for me to began my new project (or continue working on a piece I have already started). I make sure my feet are proped up on a very comfortable chair and I speed away at making those single and double chains. Crocheting relaxes me! Most of the time I am so busy - crocheting slows me down to the correct speed I should be going.
The way I learned to crochet is very interesting! I graduated from USF with a degree in Chemistry. When I graduated, I did not find a career in my degree right away. About ten months later, I was successful in finding a job in my area of expertise. I began to work at Thornton Laboratories. I lived in the projects, maybe two blocks from the job. I could walk there. At the time, I had no car. This was such a blessing!
The salary there wasn't the best, but I really liked working there. Thornton Laboratories is a small business; therefore, the people there were much like a "family". I worked in the Inorganic Department with Inez Bodden. My task was to perform analysis on lab samples of more difficult analysis (Iron (Fe), Boron (B), Manganese (Mn), Magnesium (Mg), Sulfur (S), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), %Acidity, etc.) on material other than water (soil, any type of plants, oil, etc.). One of my favorite courses in college was Organic Chemistry, 2nd semester class and lab, because it consisted of finding unknowns. This was fifty percent of my job - to find unknowns in different kinds of material. I immensely enjoyed finding what a mysterious product contained!
The family consisted of Inez, Nancy, Shirley, and Mary. We had a ball working there! I learned so much! This group was very talented. They participated in macrame and crocheting. I actually learned both skills from them. Our lunches and breaks were so much fun! I was not very close to my family. I knew the marriage was not going to work. I absorbed myself into taking care of my children, work, and church.
Currently now I am working on a blanket for the son Edwin Ayala and I are going to have. The blanket is complete. It is more than what I expected. My daughters rave over it! It is an array of the color blue.
Crocheting has been so beneficial to me. A blanket made for your child by crocheting is means more than being a monetary value - it is the bond between The Man You Love, You, and The Baby!

Most of them border on being illegal.
A good number of them use a pyramid selling structure, the language may be differ slightly but power line, matrix, "one up"programs, money lines,and the illegal scams like doublers and triplers have a common flaw. For you to profit somebody else has to buy in to the program. So in actual fact there always has to be a loser.
Here is another detail that is unpalatable to most home business opportunity seekers
These programs in most cases are pre-filled by the program owner and his buddies, rior to launch and then when they're ready they "alert" their subscribers to this over hyped business opportunity. So when the regular opportunity seeker becomes aware that such a program exists the real money has already been made
The well placed power line/money line/matrix owners effectively fleece poor unsuspecting hopeful opportunity seekers who are left to scavenge around advertising their affiliate links in the hope of making a few bucks.
But they give you training, I hear you protest. Well, not really all they provide you with are a few lead capture pages, several generic ads, various keywords to advertise on google, and a direction to advertise their affiliate page on Traffic exchanges and Safelists.
